One of our favorite things to do is go watch the sunset. Most of the time we go to the beach to walk. But there are a few moments when I like to be alone and stand in awe of God's faithfulness.
While living in Iowa, I cherished my morning sunrise walks. At 5:15 I would be out the door to watch the glorious sunrise. When Greg moved us to Florida, besides missing my family terribly, I felt robbed. In my mind, at that stage of my walk with Christ, those morning walks were my time alone with God. As many know me, change is not in my vocabulary, so the thought of walking any other time of day was out of the question.
It took several months for me to see God had a hand in our transition. I began walking at night. Not once did I think of opening my eyes to see all of Naples beauty. Until...... one late evening at the beach. While sitting in my car, crying my eyes out I heard the waves crashing against the shore. I listened and heard God speak. "I'm hear, I'm waiting on you." I got out of the car and saw the most spectacular sunset, far more beautiful that any sunrise I saw in the Midwest.
From that day forward, I knew I was home. I knew I was where God wanted our family to be. Now, my evening walks are well spent with God. He meets me faithfully every evening.
I am reminded of a song by Ten Shekel Shirt
"There's something about the ocean Makes me rise up and praise
"There's something about the ocean Makes me rise up and praise
There's something about the heavens Makes me stand in awe again
There's something about the sunrise Reminds me of Your faithfulness
There's something about the ocean (Your presence) And I'm lost in love again "
When I am alone, or feel discouragement I am simply reminded of this chorus and always know that my Maker faithfully loves me.
"I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself." Psalm 89:2
